Humphrey, Solomon, Jr.
Biography
23 Sept. 1775–Sept. 1834. Born in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Connecticut. Son of Solomon Humphrey and Lucy Case. Moved to Burlington, Hartford Co., ca. 1785. Married Ursula Andrews, at Hartford Co. Moved to Irasburg, Orleans Co., Vermont, by 1800; to Glover, Orleans Co., by 1810; and to Stockholm, St. Lawrence Co., New York, by 1830. A preacher for Baptist church. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and ordained an elder, presumably by JS, when he visited JS in western New York, fall 1830. Accompanied Lucy Mack Smith company from Seneca Co., New York, to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, May 1831. Appointed to serve missions, 6 June 1831 and 5 Dec. 1832. Participated in Camp of Israel expedition to Missouri, 1834. Died in Clay Co., Missouri.
