Biography
Ca. 1810–May 1893. Market inspector, barometer manufacturer, physician. Born in England. Married Selina Campion, 9 Aug. 1836. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, by 1839, in U.S. Ordained an elder, 23 Dec. 1839, in Philadelphia. Served as presiding elder, 1840, in Philadelphia. Served as branch president, 1840, in Cincinnati. Trustee of University of Nauvoo, 1841, in Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois. Appointed surgeon in Nauvoo Legion, Nov. 1841. Nauvoo city alderman, 1843–1845. Excommunicated, by Oct. 1844, in Nauvoo. Ordained an apostle in Sidney Rigdon’s Church of Christ, 1845. Served as an apostle in James J. Strang’s Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1846–1853. Lived in Michilimackinac Co., Michigan, by 1850; in Allegheny (later in Pittsburgh), Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania, by 1860; and in Cuyahoga Co., Ohio, by 1870. Died in Cuyahoga Co.
