Biography

24 July 1797–2 Jan. 1874. Schoolteacher. Born in Franklin, Delaware Co., New York. Daughter of David Bassett Waterman and Jerusha Case. Married William Wines Phelps, 28 Apr. 1815, in Smyrna, Chenango Co., New York. Moved to Homer, Cortland Co., New York; to Trumansburg, Tompkins Co., New York, 1823; to Canandaigua, Ontario Co., New York, by 1828; and to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, June 1831. Likely baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 16 June 1831, in Kirtland. Moved to Independence, Jackson Co., Missouri, Aug. 1831; to Clay Co., Missouri, 1833; to Dayton, Montgomery Co., Ohio, by 1840; and to Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois, 1841. Deeded lot in Nauvoo by JS, 1843. Moved to Winter Quarters, unorganized U.S. territory (later in Omaha, Douglas Co., Nebraska), 1846. Migrated to Salt Lake Valley, 1849. Died in Salt Lake City.
