Biography
15 June 1803–21 Mar. 1883. Shoemaker, innkeeper, farmer. Born at Chesterfield, Cheshire Co., New Hampshire. Son of Thomas Johnson and Elizabeth (Betsey) Smith. Married first Nancy Mason, 24 Oct. 1827, at Bath, Grafton Co., New Hampshire. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Orson Pratt and Lyman E. Johnson, 1832, in Bath. Attended church conference for elders near Big Blue River, Jackson Co., Missouri, 27 Sept. 1832. Moved to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio. Member of Kirtland high council, 28 Aug. 1834. Excommunicated, by 3 Sept. 1837. Moved to Copperas, Peoria Co., Illinois, by June 1840. Married second Caroline M. C. Hassler, 22 May 1855, in Boston. Moved to Trivoli, Peoria Co., by June 1860; to Altona, Knox Co., Illinois, by June 1870; and to San Bernardino Co., California, after 1880. Died at San Bernardino Co.
