Moved to Schuyler, Herkimer Co., New York, before 1809; to Shoreham, Addison Co., Vermont; and to Benson, Rutland Co., Vermont, 1824. Member of Methodist Church. Married first Charity Carter, 4 Dec. 1826. Moved to Troy, Rensselaer Co., New York, 1826. Moved to Mooers, Clinton Co., New York, 1828. Elected Clinton Co. commissioner. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Jared Carter, June 1832. Ordained a priest by Jared and Simeon Carter, Aug. 1832. Moved to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, Oct. 1833. Presided over priests quorum, in Kirtland. Ordained a high priest, 1837, in Kirtland. Moved to Far West, Caldwell Co., Missouri, 1838. Moved to Clayton, Adams Co., Illinois, 1839. Wife died, 22 June 1839. Married second Sarah Johnston, 10 Aug. 1839, in Clayton. Moved to Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois, 1840. Moved to Augusta, Des Moines Co., Iowa Territory, 1841. Presided over branch of church in Augusta. Returned to Nauvoo, 1842. Served mission to eastern U.S., Sept. 1842–June 1843. Moved to what became Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., Iowa, Apr. 1846. Migrated to Salt Lake Valley, Sept. 1851. Moved to Wellsville, Cache Co., Utah Territory, by 1860, where he died.
